Trak Gun™

Spike Driver - Model 96E-2

Back
The Model 96E-2 is a dual head spiking machine that sets and drives line and anchor spikes on both sides of each rail. The 96E-2 is designed for versatility of operation. The spike feed chutes are positioned so the two operators can fill the chutes with spikes in addition to operating the machine. With an optional center seat and spike chute extensions, a third person can be utilized to fill the spike chutes. The versatile model 96E-2 can thus be set up as desired for minimal manpower requirements or for maximum production.

The 96E-2 Spike Driver is ideal for use in tie renewal gangs in either configuration or can be used as a single-side machine in rail relay operations with one operator and the optional spike feeder .

Like other Harsco Track Technologies TRAK GUNÔ Spike Driving machines, the 96E-2 features reciprocating, hydraulic driving guns that for over thirty years have proven the advantages of impact spiking. Spikes driven tight to the rail, fewer bent spikes, less rework and an easier job of assuring that spiking meets quality standards.

Spikes are individually selected from the feed chutes and positioned for driving by a "Swing Feed" system

(patent pending) which quickly and accurately positions spikes and holds them firm until set by the driving gun.

Model 96E-2 machines consistently maintain spiking quality and production rates, with a programmable logic controller (PLC) for controlling major functions. The spike drivers, tie nipper and optional Auto-Gauger are all operated by the PLC. The PLC uses analog sensors to precisely determine cylinder extension positions and is easily programmed for position adjustments through the operator interface.

The Model 96E-2 TRAK GUNÔ Spike Driver–a versatile choice for your variable spiking requirements.
